You may already have heard of the new security standard, 3D Secure, for online credit card payments and wonder what that is and how you can book your MOIA in the future.
3D Secure is a process designed to increase the security of online credit card payments. After the customer enters his or her credit card number, a connection is made to the card issuer so that the customer confirms his or her identity. Correct authentication is mandatory for the credit card payment to be executed.
This safety standard is now required by law in Europe and is gradually being introduced by the banks. Each bank decides for itself how it requires verification from its customers. This can be a PIN sent by SMS, a fingerprint or a previously defined answer to a personal security question. Please contact your bank to see how the 3D Secure process is implemented there.
The frequency of this query is determined by your bank as well. You may never or rarely need to authenticate yourself, or you may be prompted to do so on every single payment.
Also, when booking a ride through the MOIA app you will be asked for authentication according to the rules and implementation of your bank. Depending on which method your bank uses, you will be directed to an extra page of your bank in the booking process and asked to authenticate. Once you have verified yourself, you can complete your booking. If the verification is not completed, no booking can be made. In that case you can try again.
For payments with other means of payment (PayPal, GooglePay and ApplePay) there will be no changes in the booking process.
