This help article offers answers to the following questions
1. General information
- Due to german concession regulations we are only authorized to transport you from one virtual MOIA stop to another. Our drivers are not allowed to take you and other passengers directly to the exact adress
- After placing an order via the MOIA App, MOIA will be on its way to pick you up from one of our virtual stops
- Virtual means that the MOIA stop is only displayed in the app and you won't find a marker at the stop itself
- Our stops are spread throughout our business area and are not far away from your location
2. How are the stops selected?
- First, you enter your desired starting point and destination, the starting time and the number of passengers. Then, you can request the trip and will receive an offer from us
- The offer includes the pick up and drop off time, the price and the approximate walking time
- You will find a circle around your start and destination address. This shows you the radius in which your pick up and drop off stop will be located
- After your booking confirmation, your virtual stops are specified
- Determining them afterwards allows our algorithm to find the stops that fit best to your MOIA's ongoing tour. That way we take fewer detours, saving time and can bring even more passengers to their destination
- The stop selection is dynamic. This means that despite of the same start and destination entries, the virtual stop may change
- With our booking option MOIA Express we calculate other parameters. For a small extra fee, we ensure short walking distances and always choose one of the closest stopping points and additionally you can see your stops before you book
3. How do I get to the Pick-up stop?
- You can see the exact stops on the map and both the address and your walking distance in your trip overview
- Additionally, you can see your pick up point, and how long it will take you to walk there, on the map
- The dotted black line shows you where to go
- The golden point shows you your stop
- If you zoom out, you can also see your drop off point
4. How can I find my pick-up location even quicker?
- By clicking on the black arrow symbol, you will be redirected to Google or Apple, depending on your operating system, and can navigate directly to your stopping point
- The function can also be used for exiting to navigate to your destination
- Depending on the operating system and support requirements, it can display Google Maps, Apple Maps, Lazarillo or Blindsquare
- Tap on the zoom button (arrows on the right-hand side) and we will show you a large preview image of your exact starting point.
5. Hochbahn bus stops can be used for MOIA
- Since 01.01.2023, we have been offering a number of innovations as part of our new concession* This also affects our virtual stops
- As an owner-operated public transport service, we are entitled to use the public transport infrastructure, such as bus lanes and bus stops, to transport you even faster and more conveniently
- So don't be surprised if your stop in the app is suddenly displayed at a bus stop
- The aim is to create stops at central transport hubs and to further connect the on-demand service and traditional public transport in a way that creates real added value for you
- Due to the increased number of active bus stops in the stop network, these can no longer be named individually here. For example, the name in the app is HVV Alsterdorfer Straße (Überseekolleg)
*Expanding our service and dovetailing our tariffs is made possible in part by the funding guidelines "Model Projects to Strengthen Public Transport" set out by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport, for which MOIA was selected together with the Free and Hanseatic City Authority for Transport and Mobility Change.
